AGRICULTURAL LABOURERS' UNION.
Tho Southbridge branch of the Agricultural Labourers' I'nion held an enthusiastic meeting on Saturday evening. The chairman of the branch (Mr Drurv) presided, and ho was biipported on tho platform by Messrs A. Weir and D. G. Sullivan.'of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council. Mr Sullivan said the farm labourers had been told there wui> no necessity for the formation of o Union, and they had boon dubbr-d "ag t t rs.' 0 ie critic 1a I cicn i<.ne to far as to demand the dismis-vul from the Addington Workshops of Mr J. A. McCnlloiigh, their president. Mr MeCul!ou-__li had done nothing but realise the iact that the farm labourer!- were existing under inhuman conditions, and h© had th© cemr.ige to champion the cause. Eleven new members were elected.
