THE INQUEST,

DUNEDIN, July 8. An inquest on the bodie* of Ruby Hn bot held and her four-year-old son, Jacob Takcpurira Taheki, was opened this afternoon.
Sergeant Mullany stated that h© knew Mrs Haberfield by sif-ht. The Haberficlds occupied tlio upper storey aud part of the back of tne ground floor of the house. To the Coroner: He did not know how the bodies were lying, as ho was not present when they were found. Nothing was known as to tlie cause of th© fust, except tho statement ot William Haberfield. Tho fire brigade waj on tho scene with great promptitude, and jevcrytiiing possible was done \o extinguish the fire without delay. The window was about liilt from the ground. The Coroner said that Haberfield waa not in a tit state to give evidence, nor was he likely to he tor some time. 'Jtwe inquest would bo adjourned sine die.
