Th© secretary of the Tailoresses' Union states that 2000 tailoresses will strike at tho end of tho week unless the coal lumpers' demands ere conceded. SYDNEY, July 8. Th© conference of the steam collier owners and the Stevedores' Association and tho Coal Lumpers' Union, proved abortive. When it was resumed to-day the secretary of the Lumpers' Union announced that the employers' proposals had been submitted to a meeting of the Union, which had unanimously decided rfot to work with free labourers, also not to accept tho wages and conditions offered for night work. Mr Byrnes, president of the Conference, on behalf of tho employers, expressed regret at the men's decision. Undor the circumstances th© employers had no alternative but to decline to proceed with the Coniierence. He thereupon withdrew th© offers previously mad© by th© employers, and the Conference ended.
