'They say there's no 'out-of-works' in -Wellington,' remarked the secretary of th© Cooks and Waiters' Union to a nicinber of the "Post"' staff this morning; "just look at that little list of our unemployed!" The remark was made in the oifioa of tbe Labour Department, and' the pressman » attention was drawn to the employment book ot the Union, which showed the signatures of over one hundred members who were registered as being open for engagement. Quite a number of these men and women—had come to Wellington, from Christchurch and Auckland recently. An omoer of the Department, whose attention was drawn to this matter, stated that it was usual at this time of year to find many men of this cia-is ot labour out of work, but there was not, he said, any larger number of un&kiiied workers out of work than is usual in Wellington during tbe winter season.
