When tho Borough Council meet on Friday, it is expected the Mayor and councillor, will occupy the new chamber. The building iireeents an excellent appearance. The councillors' luxurious round arm-chairs are nlaoed in a somioirclo at a vc-Il-Klkhod horseshoe shaped table, in which tho native timber is used to groat advantage-. Murrtagh Kennedy, a prohibit©-] person, against whom the Justioos made the order on May 23rd, was charged yesterday before Messrs V. Sergeant "Rogers said the order was made at 9.30 a.m. and before 2 p.m. defendant had procured a drink at ©very hotel in town and a two gallon jar of bee r at the brewery. Tlio offence waa admitted Accused was fined 10s on two charges with costs 14s. G. Power and 1 E. Chapman, for cycling after sunset without lights, were fined 10b and costs 7s. In the civil case of G. Thompson's trustees (Mr Yam Asch) v F. H. Whitoman, claim £3 146, judgment was given for plaintiff with costa 225., In tho caso of Mrs Wataon (Mr Van Aeoh) v Mrs W. Swords, claim £9 5s rent arid possession of premisesj judgment was given for amount "claimed and oasts 325. In the c.tjso of F. G. Scanes (Mr Johnston) v S. McMillan, claim £1 15s, judgment was given, for plaintiff with costs lli-i. H. Jones (Mr Van Asch) sued B. Sparkes (Mr Johnston) for £3 ls Id. After the hearing of evidenco as to letting a shop and painting defendant's name, otc., judgment was given for defendant, the evidence- being conflicting.
