FORGING AMD UTTERING.
At tho Magistrate* Court on Saturday, .before Mr W. Bishop, fi|-M., Harry Rowlos was cnerged, on remand, with forging and Jittering a cheque for JCI4G 18s 9u, purporting to bo signed by J a me§ Howies, and also with forging o cheriue for £5 Bs, purporting to be eigned by David Neave. Frederick Thomas, teller oi the Bank of New South Wales, said that the accused pot from him a for James Rowlee. Robert V. Terinaht, a teller at the eamo bank, said that on the eime day tho accused presented a cheque for £145 ISs 9d, .which witness objected to on neconht of the signature. - Martin Bergin, licensee of the Oxford Hotel, deposed to receiring frotn Rowles the' oheque for £5 Bs, end David Ke*ve and James Rewjos testified that tho signature* on the cheques were not theirs, The accused plaedtfi guilty, and wae committed for sentence.
