ELLESMERE.
The quarterly conference of Canterbury priests was held at the Roman Catholio Pr-sbytery, Leeston, on Tuesday. There waa a large gathering, and His Lordship Bishop Grimes presided. Mr John McMillan, of Southbridge, reports the following rainfall at Beachorof- for the month of May, 1907:—2.16 inches fell on 14 days; maximum fall 0J39 inches on the 9tH. Previous average for May (10 years) 2.42 Inchee.
