The following motion was passed ot tho Temperance Convention :—"That this No-license Council of Otago and Southland strongly and heartily urge upon the Minister of Education tno immediate necessity of introducing scientific temperance teaching into tho syllabus of our State schools, and request the New Zealand Alliance to use ail their powers to influence every momber of Parliament to support a properly graded and adequate scientific 6ystem of teaching tho deteriorating effects of alcohol, even when used in quantities conventionally deemed moderate.'**
