THE NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION

At a special meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association to-night, it was decided that for tho year 1006----1907 rule 8 bo amended by providing that in addition to tho members ofstho Executive provided for by that rule, there shall be added throe members to lie nominated by tho North Canterbury Centre.

Mr Barlow, on behalf of the North Canterbury Centre, moved to amend the present rules governing play so as to givo effect to tho following:—(1) Each side shall without penalty bo allowed to burn (by driving tho "Jack" out oF bounds) two heads in a twentyone head game; (2) a side burning more than two heads shall forfeit one point for each head burnt; (3) if a player burns a subsequent head after the' aforementioned it shall count as a played head, and his opponent scores one point. 31 r Forrester moved aa an amendment that it be an instruction to the Executive to collect information from tho English. Scottish, and other as.'ocijition-, with respect to the rules of the game, especially as to the rules bearing on the limits of rinks' dead Jacks, and Ikiwls. and report to a meeting of the Association not later than March. 1907.

Mr Payne, the president, in moving the adoption of the annual report, said that dijrfrtg the coming year he hoped they would have one of tho greatest tournaments ever held in the British Empire. From the information they had received from tho various Associations under the British flag they felt certain they would hare entries, not only from all over Australasia, but from the Homo Country and South Africa.

Mr Barlow (Christohurch) was elected president amidst applause, the retiring president mentioning that Mr Barlow had assured him that there was no friction whatever between Canterunry end this Association.

Mr Bnrlow expressed his opinion that the Northern Association should mergo into the New Zealand Bowling Association. New Zealand was not nig enough for two Associations.

Mr W. C. Allnutt (Roslyn Club) was elected vice-president, Mr R. T. Wheeler was re-elected secretary, and Mr S. T. Paterson treasurer. The following executive were elected:—Dr. Thomas, Messrs F. W. Johnstone, and F. A. Saxton (North Canterbury Centre). C. J. Payne, P. Millar, W. Alien, F. Peake, and J. White.

Mr Payne said that the team for Australia, would consist of forty players, representing clubs from Auck< land to the Bluff. Ho could not have expected to have got a better team as men, sports, and players. He thanked tho Association for allowing tho team to travel under its auspices.
