I LOCAL BILL. IN THE MATTER of a proposed Local Bill or Act. T>URSUANT to the provisions of the •I Standing Orders of the House of Representatives relating to Local Bills the Mayor Councillors end Citizens of the City of Christchurch hereby givo notice that application will be- made to tho General Asecmbly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled at tho Session now being hold for leave to introduce a. Bill io be called "Tho City of Christchurch Municipal Offices Act 1906." THE object of the paid proposed Bill is to empower tho said Mayor Councillors and Citizens of tho City of Christchurch from I time to time and as often as may bo deemed I necessary by special order of the Council and without taking any poll of the ratepayers to borrow by way of special loan a sum of £6000 at interest for the purpose of paying off any moneys borrowed or reimbursing the Corporation any moneys advanced or paid by it under "The City of Christchurch Municipal Offices Act 1886": Any loans so raised to, have a currency of twenty- yeare and may be secured by a epecial rate to be made and levied upon the whole of tho rateable property* within the Central Ward of the said City or upon tho general revenue from tho said Ward: To empower the Council to psy interest and sinking fund in rospeo* of any loan bo raised in respect of any year out of the general revenue derived by the Corporation from the said Central Wnrd and to such extent of payment it shall not bo necessary to collect any rate so made or levied. . A cooy of the said proposed Bill is deposited in the office of tho Stipendiary Magistrate's Court at Christohurch at which place tho fame is open for public inspection during pffice hours. THE objects of the said proposed Bill ia to empower the Christchurch Drainago Board to borrow by wny of epecial loan at a. rate of interest not exceeding 41 per centum per (innum such turn or funis of money not exceeding in the whole the sum of £10,000 •as the Board may determine. THE purposes for which the loan or loans is or are to be raised are (a) For constructing drains and extending, adding to, and. improving existing drams in the Avon District. (b) For Euch other works in the Avon District ac tha Board may think fit. POWER is sought to vest in the Board all the powers nnd authorities vested in Local Bodies authorised to raise loans pursuant to "The Local Bodies Loans Act 1901": To ajjpropriat-o and pledge a special rate upon tho rateable property in the Avon District for tho purpose of securing tta repayment of the SRid loan, providing for inftrest and sinking fund; to levy such special rate upon rateable property in the said Avon District; and to pay such interest or interest and sinking fund out of Tevonuo derived from the general rates levied on property in the said Avon District if the Board should so deem it advisable; A copy of the eaid proposed Bill m deposited in tho office of the Stipendiary Magistrate's Court at Christchurch at which place tho fame is open for public inspection during office hours.
