SKATING CARNIVAL.

The Last skating carnival of the eeaeon wae held iii* the Colosseum rink last night, and was more largely attended perhaps than any of those given at intervals during the present skating aeason. Last night's carnival was more in the nature of a gymkhatia, and several novel events were put o"n for the first time. There was the usual parade of skaters arrayed in fancy costumes, representing characters .from Mercia.to a jockey, a hoop race was Tun, amd a mile open race. Five four-in-hand competition teams of ladies, representing Gaiety Girls, lolanthe Fairies, Poppies, Purity Brigade, and the school girls, provided a very pretty spectacle, while two very cleverly made-up roosters skated around the floor, and otherwise comported themselves, to 'the amueement of the audience. The rink will be open to-morrow from 10 to 12, 3 to 6, and 7.30 to 10, and a hockey match hot ween two teams of ladies Trill be played during the afternoon session. The three usual sessions will be held on Monday, end the season-will close on Monday might. ANDERSON DRAMATIC COMPANY. Mr William Anderson's Dramatic Company open their, Christchurch eetason at the Theatre Royal on Monday next with 'the drama, "The" Wore* Woman in London." The piece had a lorig rum at the Adelphi, in London, end should appeal to those who like sensation in drama. The company is a strong one, including Messrs Harry Dover and Stirling Whyte, well-known to Ohristchurch nlaygoera, Miss Helen Burdette, and others.
