Mr F. T. Boyce (Napier), Mr A. Yates (Hobart), Mr and Mrs Mackonzie, Mr and Mra McClelland and Mr W. B. Oolbock (Auckland), Mr J. Harold (Wanganui), Mr A. K. Firth, Mr H. D. Mcc (Wellington), Miss Murdoch, Mr A. Hope (Dunedin), Mr Jonea (Havana), Mr L. Barnete (Manila), Mr A. Lucas and 3lr R. W. Hood (Hanmer) arrived in Christchurch yesterday. I Mr H. B. Smith left for the South jby the second express, and Mrs G. L. Ruuherford left tor McDonald Downs yesterday. Tho Sydney University football team arrived from Wellington by the Rotomahana yesterday, and left for Dunedin by tho second express, where they play Otago University. Captain Clift. Dr. Veige, the Rev. Mr White, Mr J. Mill, Mr McKellar, Mr J. A. Kinsella, Mr D. Cuddie, Mr G. A. Lewin, Mr Loughnan, and Air Friedw •liander arrived from Wellington yesterday. Mr Hannan, Mr Cameron. Mr Helmoro, Mr Lees, and Mr Kydd left for Wellington last night. Mr Ernest T. Matson, who left for London about two years ago, has returned on a short visit to Christchurch. He ha.? been appointed colonial representative of tho London Colonial Meat and Produce Company, of West Smithfield, which was recently formed, and of which Mr A. W. Pottinger, formerly .of the Clxristchurch Meat Company, is manager. Mr Matson is leaving for Australia, about tho middle of the month, emd will return to Ohristchnrch in November to open a branch of ' the company's business here, to {deal with frozen meat, wool, grain, dairy produce, etc. During 4ih© time he waa at Home Mr Mateon travelled through the greater part of England, and also visited Scotland, Ireland, and ' the Isle of Man, having relatives at the last-named place. He devoted himi self principally to gaining en insight into the wool and frozen meat business, especially the latter.
