MEETING OF CREDITORS.

A meeting of creditors was held at the Official Assignee's offico yesterday in the estato of H. L. Rogers. The bankrupt's statement, which waa unsigned, showed :—Unsecured creditors, £3003 lis; secured, £2326, less estimated value of securities £2240; deficiency on secured cretlitoTß £86; total debits, £3089 Ilb. The assets represented stock-in-trade at Waian, Hanmer, and Culverden, und timber at Waian and the mill £437, book debts £225 10s lid; cash in hand, £135 12s 9d; property, £703 10s; total asrsets, £1561 13s 8d; deficiency, £1527 17s 4d. Only one secured creditor ivas shown on the list. The principal unsecured creditors were:—Aahby, Bergh and Company, £950; Williams, Stephens and Company, £682 15s 7d; H. Brittan, £150; A. Monzies, £150; Christchurch Brick Company, £100; Boyd and Keir. £100; T. MoNaught, £49 5s 9d; W. E. Hare, £31 3s 7d; J. A. Allen, £31 16s lid; J. Cardwell, £44 18s 6d; J. Henderson, £80; G. Watson, Henshall. W. H. Rhodes and E. Jones, £100; C. and J. Oolville, £11; R. A. Charley, £40; and wages, £268 'is 4d. Tlie Official Assignee stated tbat the bankrupt was extremely ill and unable to attend, and although tho debtor had signed the declaration of insolvency he had not been able to approach the bankrupt and get particulars as to tbe estate. The particulars, so far as he had them, had been supplied by Messrs Dougall and Upham and the creditors. Tho business had been carried on for some time by Gulliver and Rogers, but the former had had a dissolution, and hud started business on his own account some twelve months ago. Gulliver had refused to file, and tho position was not as clear as it might have been. He, as Official Assignee, was entitled to some share of tho assets held in partnership, and the partnership was liable for debts contracted by the firm. " Thero was a large amount of timber belonging to tho firm, but' he did not know whether be would bo justified in calling a sale. A creditor stated that Mr Gulliver was prepared to hand over anything belonging to tho partnership. It was decided, after discussion, to allow the bankrupt and family to retain the furniture, and the Official Assignee was instructed to take charge of tlie estate, and to make arrnngemente in regard to the disposal of the timber at the mill and at Waiau, also to see whether the buildings at the mill could] bo, removed. f
