In connection with the Nelson Centenary Memorial Fund (says the Sydney '•Daily Telegraph") Octob?r 20th next is to be recognised as "Nelson Saturday throughout Australasia, and the following day as "Nelson Sunday." The latter date will be the 101 st anniversary of the hero's death. Mr Edward W. Matthews is being sent from England by the board of tho British and Foreign Sailors-' Society, and will visit New Zealand as well as Ztustralia. The

"Victory" stall at tho New Zealand International Exhibition will, in fact, bo his headquarters. Tho oak taken from the Victory, and many other historical things connected with Nelson and Trafalgar, will be on view at this exhibition. Tho society which Mr Matthews represents will, on the occasion of tito opening of tho Exhibition at Christ church, present a bust of Nelson, standing on Victory oak, and containing copper taken from tho historic flagship, to the Parliament of New Zealand. Associated with "Nelson cm tho inscription will l>e the name of tho late Richard Jc'm Seddon, who not long before he died at eea wrote to the secretary of the sodcty on tho subject of a "Victory" stall for the Exhibition. Mr Matthews, who left England l on the 14th nit., expects to reach Adelaide in tlie steamer Wakool on Ser»tember 25th, and his first meeting will take place in that oity. He is bringing out 100,000 "Nelson charms," oompcsied of pure copper from Nelson's ships, suitably inscribed, and bearing the King's initials, and they may bo purchased for a shilling each. Mr Matthews expects to bo in Christchurch about October 12th.
