Theresult has luid a peculiar effrjet on the Championship points. Next Saturday Petono meets Athletic. It is generally considered the Suburban team, will win, but if Athletic .brought off a surprise it would mean that Petonc, Poneke, and Melroso would again bo equal. On the last occasion Athletic and Petone met tho former were defeated by a point only. Wellington was defeated by Petone by 10 points to nil, and Athletic beat Southern. Wairarapa Juniors were defeated by Wellington Juniors by 2o to 3. The country team was altogether outclassed.
