PUPILS' CONCERT.

A concert was given last night in tho Trades' Hall by the pupils of Mr Leo Buckc-ridge. Tlie hall, while excellently euited otherwi.-:e far -iioh concerts, is somewhat too iveonant, and the hanging of some draperies on the wall would remedy this fault. Taken as a whole, if the concert given Last miight was a fair sample of the quality of tho coming vocalist's it was somewliat disappointing. There was a want of spirit and life in the interpretation of the different songs which made them drag sadly, and at times there was a distinct tendency on the part of some of the singere to get out of tune. Miss Hood 6ang "Out on the Rocks*' well, but there was no light and shade about the interpretation. Miss Hulnio gave "Crossing the Bar," which was somewhat- too heavy for hor, but lit was sung with considerable oaro and precision. Mks Ruby Edgar played a oouple of violin solos very artistically. She was heard to the greatest- advantage in the quaint and somewhat bizarre composition "Hejre Kali," by Hubay. This was very finely played, Miss Edgar dis-' playing considerable power and ex«eutnnt skill. Mr Leo BucJ-cridgo sang a charming little song by Tosti, but was rather too pronounced in his forto effects, and at times the use of the tremolo was markedly anparent. Several 60lofi and part songs wore givetn by pupils of Mr Buckerklgo. Tlie accom Saniments wero excellently played by Irs and Miss Rissie Edgar.
