♦ . Mr H. W\ Bishop, S.M., presided at the -Magistrate's Court yesterday. Upon charges of drunkenness, Daniel „ J. McGuire was fined 10s and ordereel to pay 4s cab hire, and a first offender was fined os. Annie Fr.-scr was remanded till July 17th upon a vagrancy charge. Ernest Wright was sentenced to a month's imprisonment for having'used obscene language in an hotel liar. His Worship said that a man who would use such language in the presence of a woman, and ton woman, was entitled to no consideration whatever. The samo accused was convicted and discharged for refusi..g to quit the pre- ■ mises of the Waltham Hotel when re- ; quested to do so. '* i Thomas J. Sutton was remantled for a day upon a charge of stealing two tins of kerosene, valued at 7s 9d. Alexander Crnik- and Daniel Tohill (Mr Donnelly) wore charged with having on June 18th, stolen two ferrets, valued at £2, the property of George Thomson. They were also charged with receiving two ferrets, knowing them to havo been stolen. The accused were convicted of stealing tho ferrets, nnd each was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment. A week wns allowed wherein to pay the fine. Tlie 6econd charge was then withdrawn.
