JOTTINGS. The Hon. Minister in charge of the New Zealand International Exhibition has confirmed the appointment of Mi D. C. Mclntyre as Director of Exhibit. Mr McGowan has also approved of the ' engagement of Mr A. Evans, who will organise and have ediarge of the series of ant unions which it is proposed to institute in connection with the art i gallery of the Exhibition. The tenders of the f-llowing have ' been accepted for the labour in connection with tho fencing of tho Exhibition grounds:—Messrs Rowe and Ryan, and ,W. C. T. Hooper. I Tho following dates have been allotted Jto Mr F. H. Massey, organist of ! All Saints, Bathutst, on which to give organ recitals: — Saturday, December Ist, afternoon anel evening; Menday, December 3rd, evening. ■The Hon. J. McGowan met the Building Committee at tbe grounds at on Monday, and accompanied them on their perioelieal visit of inspection of the building.. Several matters were brought under the Minister', no'ic, pa' ticularly tho necessity for constructing a connection between the machinery hall and tho main building. This and other matters will be dealt with by Cabinet on tho Minister's return to i Wellington. i Mr Dobson, who hns charge of the ' fencing contract, has now arranged for tho p-sition of the gates anel the fence and the location of the turnstiles at Riccarton road. It i. intended thai this gate shall serve both for Fendalton nnd Riccarton, anel it is placed near tho footbridge in tho Gartlen.., so that , visitors can al.o obtain access at the 1 same point. Arrangements are being carried out tc connect tho Exhibition Building by means of a special telephone with the Chester street Fire Brigade Station. Should a firo occur the alarm will be able to bo given direct to tho station in the shortest possible time.
