The schooner Amelia Sims left Puponga on - Sunday, with a cargo of coal for Lyttelton. Owing to the southerly gale, the departure of the Drayton Grange for Dunedin has been postponed until 6.a0 Hub morning. For the same reason, the Cygnet has been delayed, but will sail at daylight this morning, weather permitting, for A«aroa, via the Bays. The steamer Wootton arrived yeaterday morning with a cargo of timber from Havelock. After discharging this, the vessel will take a cargo of ooal to Kaiapoi, sailing probably to-morrow. It is Btated that the work of laying tho foundation for the low level litfht at Pencarrpw will bo completed in, about two weeks' time. Tho auxiliary screw schooner Huia, which lelt itaipara on Saturday, arrived at Wellington on Monday afternoon, after a" fast passage of two days. The Huia will land part cargo of timber at Wellington, and thep come on to Lyttelton with the balance. The Union Company's steamer Warrimoo, duo at Wellington this morning from Sydney, is bringing a total of 168 passengers for Hew Zealand portß—7s saloon and oH steerage. The vessel will arrive here on Friday morning, and will sail in the afternoon lor Melbourne, via Dunedin, Bluff, and Hobart. Mr 8011, who has been on holiday leave, joined the Rotoiti aa chief officer, on Saturday. Mr Naylor. late of the Itotoiti and Mapourika, is to transfer to the Warrimoo iv the capacity of chief officer. Mr King is to take 'up the position ul chief officer of the Corinno, relieving Mr T>oorley, who is about to put in his naval drill, Mr Newton is at present acting third officer of the Rotoiti, „ , It is expected that the Huddart-Parker steamer Victoria will have her repairs completed and be able to resume her intercolonial running from Sydney on June'llth. The Toieri, now at Dunedin, will bo floated into dock at Port Chalmors as soon as the Hotomahana comes out, probably to-day. Tho Taieri will undergo a thorough overhaul, und t will be fitted with a new funnel. The Union Company's steamer Wairuna \ was expected to loavo Westport yestorday for Wellington. Tho steamer Rosamond was blooked outside Greymouth on Monday morning, and steamers Karitano and Kamona wero delayed inside the bar unable to leave on account of ths weather. The Kamona is loaded for Wellington and Lyttelton.

Tlie scow Haeremai left Auckland for Wellington on Thursday last, with a cargo of timber. Mr Nixon, chief officer of the Rosamond, went ashore at New Plymouth last Friday on account of illness in his family, and his place is boing tilled by Mr Newicg. second officer. Mi Page, third officer of the Rotoiti, is acting second officer of tho Rosamond. Tho Union Company's steamer Pukaki is expected to finish discharging to-day, when she will sail for Westport. She will load a quantity of frozen meat here and then go to Wellington, whence she sails finally for London towards the end of the week. The sailing vessel which arrived in the ctroam- on Monday night was not the schooner Amelia Sims, as was then reported, but proved to bo the barqucntine Jap, from Clarence River. After inspection by the port health officer tho vessel was brought into the Gladstone Pier. Captain Norris is in command of the Jap, which is a fine little vessel of 201 tons, built last year in New South Wales. Ho reports thnt the Jap left Clarence River on Wednesday. 9th inst.. and. favoured by fair winds, mado the passage ncross to Lyttelton in the good time of 13 clays. Except an occasional "blow," fine weather waa experienced throughout the trip. The Jap has a cargo of 9G.OOOft of hardwood timber and piles for the Government. After landing this cargo the vessel will ship a quantity of produco for Greymouth, at which port she has been fixed to load white pine for Sydney. Tho Union Company's steamer Rotomahana. which has been laid up for the past month at Port Chalmers undergoing a thorough overhaul, will resume running this week in the forry service, relieving the Pateena. The Rotomahana arrives here on Friday morning, and sails nt 6 p.m. for Wellington. The Takapuna is to be placed on the elm at Wellington this week. Tho Penguin will take the run to New Plymouth and Orehunga on Wednesday, and the Takapuna will make the Wednesday trip to Picton and Nelson in place of the Penguin, laying up on her return to Wellington. The Penguin, on arrival at New Plymouth on Friday. Ist June, will come on to Wellington. On the let Tune the Takatmnn will leave Wellington for New Plymouth in order to resume runnine to Onehunga from New Plymouth on the" following night. The Pateena, which is relieving tho Rotomahnna. wi'l re-enter the Pioton and Nol«on trade on Friday. The steamer Pocahontas, from Newcastle, arrived in the stream at 12.30 am.
