The supply ie increasing and tliere is an inclination ' to force sales, which makes the market weaker, though not actually lower. Tho average prices of Canterbury brands to- : day are 4Jd light, 3Jd heavy weights. ■ North Island bian-tl.< arc selling at best quality ami 33d epcond quality. The lamb market is weak. Agents are pushing sales and the low pricos quoted are ;n-e:easing tho output. Tho average | pricen are 4d and 41d for Canterbury and brands other than Canterbury resp ctively. The beef market is quiet, and there ie no chango in prices to record. '■ Butter—Thr» market is quiet but firm with a fair demand for better grades. Supplies are increasing from Ireland and Siberia. Tho averagi , [>rice of choice New Zealand butter to-day is 101s pt»r cwt, Australian 9(k, Argentine 9Gs, Danish 105s, Siberian 90s per cwt. ; Chc-cee—The market iis a shade weaker. Wliite nukes GOs per cwt. Th're is a small supply of coloured on i hand which is quoted at 65s per cwt. j Hemp—There i« no cliange in the' price of nejnp, and the market is quiet for 6pot lo:s, but there is a better demand for dii--tant deliveries. Grass Seed—The cocksfoot seed market is quiet, buyers waiting for samples of tho new crop Wool—The- market is firm, and there is more enquiry. Current- quotations for Bradford tops are:—36's, low crossforedfi, Iβ ojfl per lb; 40's, low crow?bivds, Iβ GJd; 44's, low crossbreds, Iβ Bid; 50e. halfbreds, Is lid; 56"5, quarterbreds, 2t> ljd; GO's, merinos, 2s , 4Jd.
