LOSS ON NEW ZEALAND OATS.
In the further report on the stores oixl<-.rod for tho Itite South African War and sub-equer.tly disposed of, reference is made by the Comptroller and Auditor-General to largo cargoes ol New Zealand oats, which cost, with freight, £-15,000, and had to be sold in J)urban for The Army Council held that the fault was duo to tho "indifferent quality 7 ' of the grain pa*<>d by the graders in the i-orviee ot tho Zealand Government. The graders replied that tho oats had l>een kept eleven months, and the Army Council tonally, while "not prepared to eicvpt the statements of tho New Zealand graders," decided that no good purpose would be served by pursuing the question further.
