The entrios fmni Christchurch ivcro small. The Canterbury R.C. had crows in tho Maiden and Youths' Fours, tho Union R.C. in the .lunior and Senior Paii-s, and the Avon R.C. in tho M-iidon Four?. Tho Wairau River is a good course for a ropatta, providing tho race has no moro than six entries. ~s. with a laifie number, the space becomes cramp-d. In the Maiden Fours this wa.s particularly noticeable. Tho Avon crow made a yon* pood showiup; in the Maiden Fours. loading up to within si hundred yard> from the po-t. when the Star-, aborted themsolvrs. The VVanKanui Fnion crow siU.i passed them, and thoy had to bo content- with third place. Canterbury did not appear to bo able {■> _"t going at all. and finished second to last. In tlio Junior Pairs the Union R.C. crow led by two loniiths lor threequarters of tlie distance. Then Blenheim drew on them, and with their arrival Mahonev appeared to go to pieces leaving Blenheim to win by two length.-. Miihcnev and Mon-field al-vi .started in the Senior Pair.-, but did not finish. In the Youth-' Fours Canterbury could not boat Blenheim, rowing in second place throughout the race.
