SHIPPING NOTES.

The Budon-Powell arrived last night from Wellington, via Kaikoura. Sho will sail this moriiir.s for Akaroa, via Little Akaloa and Lc Bon's Bay. , The "Westport Coal Company"* steamer Canopus is to sail at noon to-day for ..eatpart, to load another cargo of coal for Lytteiton.

Tlie Cygnot sails this afternoon for Akajroa* via the Bays. She return* here to-morrow, and will sail on Thursday night for Kaikoura and Port Robinaon.

The steamer Hippie returned yesterday morning from her first visit to tho Chaith-m Islands. The Teasel, which was expected back here last Thursday, was delayed on the trip by had weather. Sho sailed from Lyttelton on tho night of Tuesday, April 3rd. and encountered a strong easterly gale on tho run down to the islands. The vessel worked round WaitsLngi. and at Pitt Island, but she was delayed for several days by strong westerly gales. The Ripple left AVaitangi at 9 p.m. on Friday las*, and met with strong westerly winds -until Sunday, after which light winds were experienced till arrival at Lyttelton. The vessel berthed ot the cattle wharf on arrival, in order to land :?40 sheep. 100 pigs, 11 bullocks, and 8 horses. The Ripple will sail again to-night for the Chatham Islands. _ The s.s.
