ATHLETICS.

At a serial tendered to Mr W. N. Pool?, who lias been for many years clcsely associated with the athletic life of Nelson, Mr Poole said that ho would like to see a bettor understanding between the Nel-on Club and the New Zealand League of Wheelmen, and th? New Zealand Amateur Athletic Afascciation. Although the:;* relatione "had always been cordial, he thought the rules of the governing bodies were too stringent, and some latitude shonld he shown to clubs situated as those in the Nelson district were. He believed that if a delegate from the NeW..n district visited Chri-,t<;hurch and explained the position clearly, the club would be granted some concession.
