TWO STEAMERS ASHORE.
(Received March sth, 1.7 a.m.) SYDNEY, Maroh 4. The Norwegian steamer Thordis, after partially loading at Newcastle, was proceeding to Port Stephen to complete her cargo of coal for Manila when she went ashore on the north head in on exposed position. Her holds are flooded and it is feared she will become a total wreck. The captain and a portion of the crew hare landed, and the remainder are standing by. BRISBANE, Maroh 4. A steamer, supposed to be the Claverton, from Java to Newcastle, is ashore on the Barrier Reef, ninety miles north of Cooktown. No details are to hand.
