REPATRIATING THE CHINESE.
THE ELECTORAL QUESTION.
United Press Electrio Telegraph—Copyright.
LONDON, March 2.*
The "Standard" states tnat the Government has decided that coolies wishing to be permanently repatriated must give a quarter's notice, and their earnings during that period will be devoted to paying their passages. It is believed that few will break their contracts.
Instead of a Royal Commission, a Select Committee will collect information to eettle the electoral basis in the new colonies. There is no likelihood of a population basis being adopted, and. some compromise is probable.
