ELECTION NOTICES. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE GELRISTCHUBCH LICENSING DISTRICT. LADIES AND GE-TTLBMEN— ON MARCH 13th it will be your doty to elect a Licensing Committee which will hold office for the ensuing three years. I You are aware that the result of the recent ' Local Option Poll was in favour of "Oontimiancc," and consequently the Committee will have no power to refuse to grant any license so long as the law rels-ting to licensees is observed by them. The duties of the Committee will be strictly of an administrative character. We be* to say that we are Candidates for your suffrages at the ensuing Ekotioii, and confidently ask for your support. We aTe unanimously of opinion that the hour of closing licensed houses should be 10 o'clock, and if elected -will give effect to that opinion. We would point out that in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin all licensed houses are closed at the hour named, and Christchurch ia the onJy City in the Colony whero the hour' for closing has been extended beyond that fixed by law. viz.. 10 p.m. For this distinction we think no valid reason exists. If elected we pledge ourselves to administer the Licensing Acta in a fair, reasonable, and impartial manner. We strongly urge every elector to reoord ■Lis or her vote at this election. We arc, yours faithfully, R. S. GRAY. R. ERfWTN. J. ORCHARD. J. A. FLESHER. 4399 C. E. SALTER. LICENSING DISTRICT OF KAIAPOI. ELECTION OF LICENSING COMMITTEE. NOTICE OF POLLING DAY.
