MR CAVERHILL AND PROHIBITION.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—As a Riccarton elector I wish to know definitely Mr Cavorhill's views on prohibition and tho totalisator. My reason for asking is that I am aware tho No-licenso party of Riccarton ere supporting Mr Caverhill. Also, at the beginning of tho election ho published en address to the electors, which lies before mc. In it he eaid, "Personally I am a believer in No-license on a three-fifths majority. I am an abstainer ,etc." Now, what I want to know ie this: If a motion ie proposed in . Parliament that alcoholic liquor tifoall be abolished from tho Riccarton racecourse and Show grounds and Addington Sale Yards, how will Mr Caverhill vote ? I also want his opinion straight on tho totalisator. I sco hu advocates a referendum on the matter. Why should a referendum be taken on a question liko that, in which tho matter would bo decided by people who never Baw a race in their lives and never go near a racecourse? Mr CaverhtU knows c referendum will never be granted on tie quiet ion; but if Mx Ell introduce* a Bill to abolish the totalisator, will Mr Cavorhill voto for or againet the retention of tho machine on our racecouTße? Straisht answere are asked for-—Yours, etc.. A RICCARTON ELECTOR.
