In the match between these teams, the Potent won by 19 runs and three .vickets on the first innings, the piay, a. in the second eleven's contest, being abandoned early in the afternoon, on account of tho wet. Scores:—Pa*t 64 (A. T. Chapman 20, and E. R. Webb 18); Present 83 for seven wickets (Blakeney 18. and Latter 12). Starky and ivesteven for the winn?rs, and Webb and Chapman for the losers, bowled best. The second match in the Ashburton County Assodation's competition was played at Timaru on Wednesday between the Tinwald and Rakaia Clubs. Tho former won a rather easy victory by an innings and 36 runs. The scare? were:—Tinwald 114; Rakaia 14 mid 64. ; For tho winners D. McKenzie (14), F. I Timms (15), and. S. Oulverhouse (47) batted well, while E. C'ark teeven wickets for 8 runs) and D. MoKenzie (two for 2) secured the bowling honours.
