CHRIST'S COLLEGE.

PAST v. PRESENT. TLo annual matches between the past end present pupils of Christ's College wore payed on the College Ground yesterday. At the start a disagreeable nor'-wester -vras blowing, and during the morning it veered round to sou'west. A few slight showers fell, but they were not heavy enough to stop play. During the luncheon adjournment heavy rain came on, wHch prevented play being continued for eomo time, and a equall striking the refreshment marquee, just after lunch lowered it to the ground. # Fortunately no one was seriously injured, though the caterer, Mr liattray, and same of the nttendantt? were bruised by the falling canvas, etc. The matches resulted in fnvcur of tha Old Boys, who wen three of the four games, though in the game botwesn tho fi fit elevens, the Present boys were oors derably handicarned w t»i having to bowl irith a wet ball, on t>-e wicket which was favourable to the tatemrn until tho rain had ecaked in. Details:— FIRST ELEVENS. In the match beiwecn teams, tTie Present went in firtt, and remained at the w.ckete until just on lunch time, when the innings cloted fer 161. Aiur the interval piay wa* continued, when it was etill raining steadily, and the Old Boys kocked up 177, and as there was no "time to complete the eeoond innings on each side ; they won by 16 runs on the finst innincs. E Rhode* trundled well for the winners tafeng the 6ix wickets which fell before lunch, at a sma!l cost, while Chapman trund.cd best for the losers.
