Cogblan, the Acting-Agent-Geaeral for New South Wales, has banded the Colonial Office Messrs Burns, Philp and Co.'s amended claim in connection witih the Marshall Islands dispute, totalling £17,600/' inoluding £7,500 for the lose of trading righti* tliis year until October Ist. He has urged immediate attention to the matter, and suggested l Uβ reference to the Hague Tribunal for arbitration, in the event of Germany not entertaining the claim as rendered 1 .
[The steamer Ysabel, belonging to Messrs, Burns, Philp and Co., which has been engaged in the island, trade for Borne years, vraa practically shut out of the Marahall Islandk in October last, owing to the prohibitory action of the German authorities in doubling the ship's license fee, and in otherwise Tβstncting trading facilities. As that action was held to be in contravention of treaty obligations, strong representations were made by the Federal Prime Minister in forwarding Messrs Burns, Philp and Co.'c claim for compensation to the Imperial Government for presentation to the authorities at Berlin.]
