CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST, WOOLSTON.

The parishioners of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Woolston, held their annual meeting on Monday. There was a very poor attendance. Douglass, the choirpnaster, and organist respectirely; Misses Louie Bennie, Freeman and Saanders, and to the choir, Sunday school teachers, and all other Church workers. The electionof Church officers was adjourned till June 4th, at the request of the ricar, as he intended to interview the Bishop with regard to his failing health, and to take hi* adrice whether he should continue work in the parish, or not. The meeting decided that it was not advisable to form a oommittee to arrange for a Church day school. After a hearty vote of thanks had been accorded tihe vicar, the rest of the evening was given up to musio and refreshments provided by .the choir, the following giving musical items:—Misses Falcolnor and Thompson, and Messrs W. Trewern, Howes, Hawkina and Douglass.' ST. MATTHEW'S, ST. ALBANS. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Matthew's parochial district, St. Albans, was held on Wednesday, evening. There was a good attendance. The vicar (Rev. J. H. Rogers) presided, and in hi* opening address gave a favourable account of the work during the year, mentioning particularly the increased number of communicants, and increased general attendances. Good work was recorded in. connection with the choir, Communicants' Guild, Sowers' Band, Young Men's Guild, Band of Hope, and other organisations. The balance-eheet, which had not been printed in time for the meeting, owing to the departure of one of the churchwardens for England, was presented, and showed the parish to be in a good financial state. The following officers were elected:—Vicar , * warden, Mr A. J. Nicholls; parishioners' warden, Mr C. H. Clibborn; vestrymen, Messrs H. D. Pine, T. Gordon, J. Dv Feu, J. Moore, A. Morgan, H. Pope, and Hobbs. Mr W. H. Cheeseman was appointed auditor. The vicar brought up the question of the necessity for building a new Sunday school, stating that there were over 200 children attending now, and it was of the utmost importance that something should be done at once. It was decided to carry out the work as soon a* possible, and subscriptions amounting to over £30 were collected in the room for this object. Hearty voles of thanks were passed to the choir, Sunday school teachers, organist, honorary sacristan, auditor, and Church workers.
