HEATHCOTE.
At the last meeting of the Heathcote Road Board Messrs Scott (chairman), Corson, Martin, Malcolm, and Wilkinson were present. The Tramway Board wrote asking for the levels of roads in the district where tram lines are to be laid. The Valuation Department wrote -stating that a voucher for the payment of £88 7e 3d subsidy had been forwarded to the Treasury for payment. Tho Road Boards Association forwarded a statement of the work carried out during tho year, which was considered very satisfactory. Complaints were received of a number of horses and cattle continually straying on the roads in tho district. It was decided that the police be asked to take nroceedings against owners. Residents of Avonside wrote asking for a lamp to be erected along the River road, and for name plates to roads. Tho requests were granted. It was also decided to form a footway on tho south side of the Mile road, between Gloucester and Worcester streets. It was agreed to contribute one-third of the cost of a culvert across the River road at Woolston station on condition that it is made six feet wide. The clerk was instructed to writ© to the Railway Department regarding the provision for drainage through the railway at the Woolston station. Accounts amounting to £611 7s 9d were passed for payment.
