FITZGERALD'S CIRCUS.
Fitzgerald's Circus trill commence a seven nights' season on November sth, opposite the Theatre Royal. There will be matinees next week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Amongst the novelties to be introduced here are tbe clever Japanese wrestlers from Osaka, Japan, who irere engaged by Mr J. D. Fitcgerald daring his recent trip to that country. The compnny will arrive from Wellington by specially chartered steamer on Saturday.
"THE ROSE OF THE RIVIERA." Mr George Stephenson's New English Musical Comedy Company will open their season at the. Theatre Royal next Friday, in the much-heralded musical success, "The Rote o! the Riviera." In Sydney this play ran for-nine consecutive weeks to packed houses, whilst at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne,. it attained a run of seven weeks. There is no claim to a plot in the 'Rose," but its charms are said to be its exceptional musical calibre, brightness of interpretation and magnificence of scenic setting. The combination numbers between 70 and 80 people, and in Misses May Garston ' and Alice Nixon it possesses two charming actresses, who have already won the hearts of Australian audiences, while the reappearance of Miss May Beattv and Mr Edward Lauri will be welcomed by all playgoers. The play is aaid to abound in bright and original novelties, a particular" feature amongst which will be the magnificent ballets of the famous Gibson Girls and the- Rose Ballarini. The production of the "Rose of the Riviera" is limited to four nights only, as on Wednesday, November 9th, it gives place to "The Skirt Dancers."
