NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. The Council of tltc New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association,inet on. Friday, Mr J. F. Grierson presiding. There were also present Messrs J. E. Green, vicepresident (Wellington), C T. Aschnian and J. W. Daxis (Canterbury), A. K. Jay (Otaejo), G. H. Mason (Auckland), A. L. Stycbo (Wellington), and C. East, secretary. The secretary stated that it had been decided to open negotiations with tho English Aw>ociation with a view to securing a visit to the colony from Messrs* Shrubb and Duffy. Lette-rs were also read from Shrubb, in which he expressed his desire to visit New Zealand. If tho men can. t>9 brought out it intended to endea.vour to arrange meetings in Victoria and New South Wales. Tho Victorian Association wrote, stating they would contribute £60 towards the etiwuner expenses, and provide for the men in their State. It is proposed to hold* championehip meetings at each of the four centres iii New Zealand. The secretary also read a letter from J. W. Morton, the English runner, who has sprung into prominence by beaming Shrubb and Duffy, stating that Iμ would like to visit the colony, if possible. . Association in allotting the New Zealand Cross-country Championships to the Otngo Centre, without first giving opportunity to the' North Island Centres to select teams to compete.
