FIRES.
A fire occurred at Timaru yesterday by which a tivc-fctoreyed building, situated alongside the railway, at, the south end of the town, was totally destroyed, together with all its contents. The tiro occurred at 3.30 a.m., its origin being a completo mystery. Tho building was owned by J. P. Newman, and was used by the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association as a .<-torehoii.se for seed and manure. Newman's loss was barely covered by insurance, but. tho stock was uninsured, and the Association's losa is estimated at £2030. (PRF.SS Af-SOCIATIONT TLLEGBAM.) HASTINGS, August 4. A fine broke out at Milburn Bros.,sawniillers' and coal yard, at 4.30 this morning. A strong wind was blowing, and a shed, with engine plant and timber stocked therein, was destroyed. Tho insurances wero £475 in the Northern Company.
