THE EMPLOYERS FEDERATION.
THE ORGANISING SECRETARY'S TOUR. Mr H. Field, organising secretary of the New Zealand Employers' Federation, .was in this city yesterday, and gave a representative of "The Press' , some information regarding his tour in the couth. New Associations of employers had been formed in Ashburton, Timarn, Oamaru, and Invercargill, and in each of these centres committees and secretaries were appointed, and the work of canvassing for additional members liad been, commenced. The meetings addressed by Mr Field were attended by employers in the largest and smallest businesses. The Danedin Association, which had been in existence for several years, ■was very much alive, strongly representativeof - the employers, and very energetic. In Oamaru and Invercargill especially a number of farmers had identified themselves with the movement, and this might be taken as an indication that others would follow their example, for the work of federation was much appreciated by the farming community. The programme of the conference of Trades and Labour Councils, held recently in this city, had evoked a considerable amount of interest amongst employers, and he had little doubt that it would be beneficial in making the employers organise to the fullest extent. Mr Field met many of the representative men in the centres he visited, mayors, and chairmen of harbour boards, and other local bodies, and all looked with a great deal of concern on the increasing aggressiveness of the Labour Unions. Mr Field spoke in the highest terms of praise of the treatment accorded him by the Press in the different centres visited* by him, and said that the reports of the meetings were very fully given.
