Hackenschmidt beat Madralli in GnecoRoman wrestling for tho world's championship, at the Olyinpia, for £2000. The contest was won in 44 seconds. Madralli had his elbow dislocated. There were twenty thousand persons present. [Madralli, previous to the above match, It ad an unbeaten record. He arrived in London from Turkey towards the cloeo of last year, and at once issued a challenge to all-comers. Ho and Hackenschmidt, the Grtcco-Roman champion of the world, failed to come to terms, and the Turk was matched to meet Cannon, the English wrestler. The contest came off on December 17th, Madralli winning by securing two straight falls, and after tlus match Hackenschmidb must have made the above-mentioned match with the Turk.] STARVING AUSTRALIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA. The "Daily Mail" states that Mrs Maybrick will be released on special license, stipulating that she is not to appear on the stage, or write a book, or to attract attention. [Mrs Florence Elizabeth Maybrick was trkd at Liverpool in 1889 on a charge of poisoning her husband, James Maybrick, at Aigburth, with .arsenic. The trial, which was before Mr Justice Stepheu, lasted from July 21st to August 7th. Mrs Maybrick waa convicted and sentenced to death, but the sentence was commuted to one of penal servitude- for life.]
