(PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELKGEAM.) WELLINGTON, January 12. The cricket team selected to represent the Ncrtb. Island against the South is as follows: —Tucker, Upham, Mahony, Hales, aid Watt-rs (Wellington), Stemson, Hay, Mason, and Oltff (Auckland), Macasseyand Bishop (Napier). All these players have received the necessary leave. Mills, Williams, and C. Hickson could not get leave.
The first of a .series of matches between the literary staffs of the "Lyttdton Times " and "Press" was concluded at Hagley Park yesterday afternoon, when the former won by 41 runs. On the first day the "Times" players had made 82, and "The Press" had lost nine wickets for 55. The latter's innings closed for 65. In the second innings each team batted a man sfiort. The "Timte" representatives iniuk> 60 (Fanning 17, Atack 13, and Diekson 10). The "Press"' players were dismissed for 36 (Hamber 16, and Barge 12). For the winners Reev«s took seven wickets for 17 runs, and for the losers Hardcastle secured six for 19.
