A CONVICT'S ESCAPE.
(Sr-ECIAL TO "THB PBESS."*) DUNEDIN, November 24. Otto Herdrgan, who will be well remembered in Canterbury in connection with a large number of cases of breaking and entering at Ashburton and other place*, and who was run to earth by Detective Ward after a sensational bicycle chase, escaped from the prison gang at Taiaroa Heads this afternoon. He was doing a sentence of two and a half years. He. is a well built athletic-looking young fellow, who was formely employed as a cadet in the post office at Rotorua. (r*KSS -SSOCT-TIOH TELKQIU-.) DUNEDIN, November 24. Otto Herdigan escaped from the prison works this afternoon. It is known, that he has since succeeded in changing his clothes, so that evidently the escape was prearranged. He is believed to be hiding in the bush near Cape Saunders.
