The West Australian arrived yesterday from Newcastle. Tee New Zealand and African Steamship Company's next vessel, the Rippin.gham Grange, will load at the Bluif. Lytte'lton, Picton and Wellington. She sailed from Capetown on October 7th for Albany and Sydney, and is due in New Zealand early this month. The West Australian is an iron txirque of 500 gross and 3-J5 net tonnage. She was built in 1876 by Mr J.. T. Thompson, Sunderland, and is owned by Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co. Her dimensions are:—Length lCl.Tft, beam 29.3 ft, depth of hold 17.1 ft. She brings 900 tons of coal. She took fourteen days in coming over. The barque Sarah and Mary anchored in the stream yesterday. She is from Invercargill, and is wind bound. The contract price for the new HttddartParker liner is £72.000. The oontract was secured by Messrs Gird end Co., of Greenock, the other tenders ranging up to as high as £07,000. The new vessel is to be 335 ft in length, and similar in most respects to the Victoria, which was built and engined last year by Mesars Gourlay Bros, and Co., Dundee. The Victoria is 3PCO tons gross, IS7O tons net, and has engines 27Jin, loin, and 74in by 48in stroke. The Government steamer Hinemoa- is expected to reach Lyttelton from the Chathams on Friday, and will ship stores for Godley Head and Akaroa lighthouses, also cargo for West Coast. EXPECTED ARRIVALS.
