CHRISTCHURCH RACING CLUB.

The Autumn Meeting of the Christchurch Racing Club was held at Plumpton Park on Saturday. Though somewhat overcast, tlie weather held line, inducing a good number of spectators to journey out by road and rail. The* course was in excellent order, and the racing was interesting. In most of the events the public were considerably astray in their selections, only one actual favourito getting home. Zealous scored a meritorious victory in tho chief eve_t of the day, in which" Kelburn, who was pent out a great favourite, ran a very poor race. Onco into the home straight _o_bardo had Natalie's mecsure. and, going on, won comfortably by a length and a «iak, from Khaki, with Natalie two 'lengths back third, followed by First Shot. straight waa entered. Passing the half milo poet Dirk had got away from Merryiuslter, and a little further on Stepdancer started to close en the leaders. Dirk was first into tbe horn© straight, and she heid her own till within th« distance, where Stepdancer had her measure, and won comfortably by half a length. Merrymaker finished third, six lengths back, lime, lruia 32jsoc. Dividend, £1 10s.

After a false start the field was sent away on equitable terms, and ot the stand Secret Society and Kelburn were running just in front of Zealous. Stepdancer whipping in. Going out of tho sSraight Kelburn lost his place, and a little further on Antigone ran lip to Secret Society, Stepdancer still last. When well into tho back straight Zealous ran up to the leaders, while Keiburn and Clanburu started to improve their positions. Going round the top turn Zealous was in front of Secret Society and Ckuibura. Kelburn bcir.3 iv difficulties. Zealous came into the homo straight well clear of Secret Society and Clanburn, and. holding her own in the run to the post, won by four lengths.
