Tlk- Committee's report stated that the school hud enjoyed a fair amount of success duritiij the year. The inspectors report of the annual examination hud induced the Committee to p„s«, unanimously a, resolution complimenting the headmaster und his stuff on its very satisfactory nature. It was found extremely difficult to get parent:; to recognise their responsibilities in regard to the regular attendance of their children, and the Committee urged upon all concerned to give the teacher* more encouragement iv this connection. The Committee tendered their b;st thank* to the Board of Education for the way in which they had met the Committee's applications for improvtmeats from time to time. The present up-to-date school buildings compared favourably with any of the country schools in Canterbury, and the thoroughly modern system of sanitary airangsments reflected tlie highest credit" on the clerk cf works to tlie Education Board (Mr Schmidt). The roll attendance showed a continued gradual increu.'e, the average for the pnst year being 236. highest attendance 279, and lowest attendance 146. The financial statement sdiowed a satisfactory balance in hand after a good, deal of extraordinary expanses had been met. The householdeis and new Committee w»re recommended to consider the advisableues- of piocuring a piano for the School. Ths lepmt and balance-sheet were adopted. 'i!iiiU-:.n were nominated for the Commit. ".•, and the foliowinit were elected: - Messrs 11. D. Pino, Bellamy, Clayton. Brunt, L'versedgc, Hunter, Hammett, Wvatt. and Boon. in leplv to v. hearty vote of thanks accorded him,-the headmaster expressed the hop.; that; parents would continue to send their children to school as regularly as they were doing at present. A vote of thanks was accorded the assistant master for the interest be had taken in the boys' outdoor sports ami games. A resolution was agreed to that both parents of children attending public schools should be eligible to vote at annual meetings of householders to elect committees. On the motion of Mr Brant, it was decided that the Government be urged to open high schools to children of primary schools who have passed the sixth standard under the nge» of fourteen years. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring committee. At v meeting of the new Committee, Mr H- D. Pine was elected chairman.
