ASSISTANCE TO CADET CORPS
I (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 19. . The Premier has informed Mr W. T. Wood, M.H.R., that £100 per annum, in addition to capitation, has been granted to the Defence Cadets, except those connected with High Schools or Colleges, for the purpose of hiring drill halls, lighting, etc. Two shillings p;r day has also been grantrd- to cadets during their annual week's camp. The question of granting commissions to cadet officer*! is under consideration, and regulations in regard to this and other matters are being prepared. A staff officer has been appointed to instruct and report upon the Cadet Corps, a large number of whom are. nhortly to be armed with Martini-Enfields, in place of existing carbines.
