Dowfcon added a few to his overnight score, and then got leg before. Five for 121. Boeanqiiet commenced to score rapidly, but C'laxton caught him nicely. Six for 437. Stanning partnered Thompson, and the Littor lifted one over the drewting-room for five. With 18 to hi» credit he wa3 beaten by Travere. Seven for 455. Trott'e stay at the wickets wan short, the eighth wicket falling for 460. Scanning and Johnson enrried the game to the luncheon adjournment. On resuming, both i«cored freely, Johnson being particularly aggrewrive. Reedroan took Giffcn'e place, and the change proved (ffective, Travern catching Johnson in the elipa- Nine for 519. The lost partnership only added four, Stanning being caught on the boundary. The innings dosed for 553. The local start wan disastrous, the first wicket going for six. Evan* was hitting freely, but Thompson yorked him. Two for 21. Hill and Reedman improved matters, and carried the score into the sevt-n----tiefl, when Reedman wae dismieeed. Three for 75. Gebra failed to stay. Four for 86. Hill scored rapidly the whole time he was at the wickets, but a beauty from Thompson ended hie career. Five for 115. Gloxton and Jennings then cemented a strong partnership, the former doing as he pleased with the bowling. Late in the tiny he gave a couple of warm chances, one to Trott off his own bowling, and another to Taylor behind the wickets. Jennings batted soundly, and both playere played out time.
