A Japanese Cotmnioiioner has arrived to enquire into land legislation and the construction of public works. After visiting tihe various States he proceeds to New Zealand. Hβ eaye there ie plenty of room for the expansion of trade between Japan and Australia. Although there ie a good deal of resentment at Australia excluding people from the East, it has not affected the desire for trade. The Anglo-Japanese Alliance bas done » great deal to steady the position in the East.
