The Executive of the Avon No-license Vigilance Association met in the Social Hall, Church street, on Wednesday, the Rev. I. Sarginson presiding. Arrangements w;.re made for a public meeting, to be held at an early date, and a quantity of other business was dealt with-
The anniversary sermons in connection with the Greendale Union Sunday School were preached to large congregations on Sunday by the Rev.. Dr. Erwin, of Christchurch. On Monday the nsual tea and public meeting was held. The superintendent, Mr H. McGrestie, read the report, which showed that financially the school was in a satisfactory condition. Addresses were delivered by the Revs. Cossom, Lambert, Maxwell, and Dr. Erwin, and the Rev. Reader sang a solo. Mrs Margaret L. Shepherd, a Canadian lectnress, delivered an address on "Romanism" at the Oddfellows' Hall yesterday evening, to an audience which filled -about two-thirds of the building.
