AFTERNOON SITTING. The Legislative Council met at 2.50 o'clock. A RETURN WANTED. Mr BOWEN moved that the Government be requested to prepare a- return to be laid b?fore tl? Council at ths beginning) of next, session, showing (1) the, anuMsmt transferred from the Land Assurance Fund Account to the Local- Bodies Sinking Fund Account, from the 31st March, 1901, to the 31st Maivh, 1903, and (2) the amount standing to tie credit of tie Land Assurance Fund on the 31st March, 1903. The mover said most people were under the imprtfsion that a tike under the Land Transfer Act was indefeasible, but that was mot so, as ine Assurance Fund only provided against errors of office or fraud. Un<ter the circumstances he thought the for tlJue insurance fund was too high, and in orAsr to indura as many people as pewsib.'e to corns und-er the Act these charges should hi reduced. The d-ebate was adjourned, li»o Minister of Eduaitioii promising to supply information -en the subject at t-he evening sitting. At 3 p.m. the Council rose till 8 p.m.
