He and Mrs Turnbull have been resident in England for the past yeaa* na account of their children, who are being f-ducated here.
Professor Arthur Dendy, D.Sc, of Canterbury College, has. with Mrs Dendy and their family, been in England for the past six months, three of winch were spent in the neighbourhood of Manchester, where the Professor tells ma he was engaged for some time iv original research on material that he brought with liim from New Zealand; he has been working in the Zoological Laboratory of the Owen's College, of which he is an old student. In March last, Professor Dendy toils mc, lie had the pleasure of iepiesenting the New Zealand University o_, the occasion of the Jubilee of the Owen's College, and the opening of the new Whitworth Haft, at Manchester, by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales. Recently, by special invitation of the Council, he delivered a lecture on the Chatham Islands, before the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society, and at the Royal Society's conversazione .held last week at Burlington House, Piccadilly, he exhibited a series of ethnological specimens, photographs, and sketches, from the Chatham Islands. * While in London, Professor liendy has been able to study some of tha recent methods of microscopical iuvestigai tion in tlia Zoological 'Laboratory of the Royal College of Science at South Kensington, and to attend some of the meetings of learned societies.
