WANGANUI TRAINING NOTES. * (SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.') WANGANTn, May 20. Moifaa, Defoe, Guesser, Garnet, and Field Battery arrived last nignt. T__yVa.ll look well. Before breakfast Guard and Gobo ran two __u__ds at a good working gallop. Somnolent and Chasseur went six furlongs, the mare having aU the_h_3t of the gallop. Halberdier, Convoy, .and Hofcu oovered six furlongs. Convoy winning easily. Fakir and Z_a_o_3, ___iet_d by Dick, sprinted for_ six furlongs. Tbe former won' easily. Field Battery trotted twice round, then spurted two furlongs. Mussel and Benediction trotted two rounds, and then ran half a mile. Moifaa did some sound work, also Guesser, Durable. C_*u_*_e, "We-tguard, Queen's Guard, Lady Bell, Scallywag, Garnet, i-___r_ngi, Jock o' liantern, Great Scott, Moreen, Mazona, Rocket, Defoe, Ganger, and a host of others. Matarawa jumped the steeple fences slowly. Boaeplot went .two rounds at three-quarter pace, and strode over the last five fur-ongs in good style. Ocean Shell ran five f _.l_ngs in modarat- time. Bowman did two round- at three -quarter pace. Romany Lad, who jumped yesterday, pulled up lame, and will not be a starter at the meeting. The boisterous weather is greatly against anything like solid -work being performed, but the course ia in fairly good condition.
